Description
Climate Resolve, along with co-hosts Southern California Association of Governments, Los Angeles Department of Water & Power, and Smart Surfaces Coalition, with support from the Urban Sustainability Directors Network and Climate Mayors, will bring public works professionals from throughout the country to Los Angeles to learn from technical experts, business leaders, policymakers, and other practitioners about the latest technologies and innovations in cool surfaces – cool roofs, walls, and pavement – that cities are deploying to make the built environment and people more resilient to heatwaves.
As part of a larger suite of interventions to combat urban heat, including nature-based strategies, the program will focus on implementing cool surfaces at the local level. The program includes expert presentations designed to inform practical applications, site visits of recent cool surface projects in communities throughout Los Angeles, live installation demonstrations of cool pavement products, and robust discussions on opportunities, challenges, and solutions surrounding cool roofs, walls, and pavement.
